SCHOOL HISTORY
San Miguel Elementary School traces its beginning to the pioneer and native of San Isidro Bunawan Davao. After the war, Plantation Akameni Primary School was established at San Isidro Bunawan Davao City, the first settlement made was by Tormis family and the first teacher was Mr. Nicolas Dampios.
In 1969, mr. Wenceslao and Gregoria Tormis donated a portion of their land more or less fivethousand square meters (5000 sq.m) located at San Isidro Bunawan Davao City, about 3 km. away from the Davao-Agusan Road. The plantation Akameni Primary School was formally opened and organized in May 21, 1969 with twenty-nine Grade 1 pipils and a number of Grades II and III of Mrs. Mr. Nicolas Dampios followed by the daughter in-law of Mr. Wenceslao and Gregoria Tormis, using the multi grade scheme. Later, the Plantation Akameni Primary School was changed to San Miguel Elementary School in favor of the Patron Saint of the area which brought by the Tormises. From this year on, complete elementary was established but still using the multi grade scheme. Conflict arose in 1997 when the son of the late Mr. Wenceslao Tormis reclaimed the donated land because it was found out that the Deed of Donation executed on June 30, 1971 was not duly notarized by a notary public and that there was no official acceptance by the Donee of such donation, hence there was no conveyance of the donated property from the donor unto the Donee. The heirs of Mr. Wenceslao Tormis sold the land including the school site to the Davao Union Cement Corp. now HOLCIM.
Because odf the kind and generous hear of the HOLCIM they let San Miguel Elementary School remain at its site and they even adopted the entire school premises. So, the San Miguel is only a borrowed school site from HOLCIM.
